Our founder and friend was Clayton Carlton Humphries. Clay was passionate about his family, Florida, and the outdoors. Clay’s vision was to create a place for families and friends to come together to experience Old Florida in today’s world. Clay’s hope was that when people arrived at Hideaway Hammock, they would be transported to a time once remembered.
Hideaway Hammock offers Old Florida feel with the comforts and amenities of the 21st century. Whether you want to stargaze in our beautiful fields, search for some of our native wildlife and birds, hold a corporate event, or say “I do” in a picturesque location, Hideaway Hammock is the space for you. Our most well-known event is our annual Fall Festival! This unique event, held every October, features a sunflower maze, pony rides, corn pits, slides, and local food vendors.
Clay’s roots in Florida ran deep. His family arrived in St. Lucie County in 1878, establishing a cattle ranch that still runs to this day. Clay’s passion for Florida and the outdoors led him to become involved with the local 4H, Future Farmers of America, Young Farmers and Ranchers committees, One Florida Foundation and the Farm Bureau. Hideaway Hammock was Clay’s dream. It is our honor to bring his vision to life.
